First Look at Moto Z and MotoMods

When pictures of Motorola's next flagship were leaked, the tech community criticized Lenovo for making Motorola loose the "X-factor". And indeed it did, replacing it with the "Z-factor".

The Moto Z was announced at Lenovo Tech World in San Francisco, on 9th June, along with the Lenovo Phab 2, a 6.4 inch phone with Google's Project Tango.

The New Moto Z Family with Moto Mods: Transform Your Smartphone in a Snap

The new Moto Z has all the raw processing power you need, along with all the features you didn't know you wanted. The specs of the Moto Z are very similar to the standard 2016 flagship, with a Snapdragon 820, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 5.5" 1440p (DO NOT CALL IT 2K) screen and 64 GB internal storage. All this leads to one stand out point which is the Moto Z is EXTREMELY THIN at just 5.19 mm.

The Moto Z's beefed up sibling, the Moto Z Force also has similar specs, with some additions. Check out the specs of the Moto Z below.

Both of the phones will be available in the US this summer with Verizon only Droid options. The Moto Z Force will not be available worldwide whereas the Moto Z sales will start in September.

So, that is all for the usual stuff. Let's bring in the fun now with MotoMods! You can think of MotoMods as the sensible/realistic cousin of Google's Project Ara. MotoMod is similar to LG's G5 modules. You can just put on a case and get longer battery life/louder music/more optical zoom/project a movie anywhere and a lot of jealous friends!

In my opinion, Motorola has really found the balance between innovation, sophistication, and simplicity. MotoMods are just snap on covers that need no tweaking software or opening up your phone.
